Long Island Ducks Host Junior Ducks Day

 

August 3rd, 2018 – Town of Islip youth recently visited Long Island Ducks Stadium for Junior Ducks Day, an all day baseball camp where kids learn from the pros! Long Island Ducks players were on the field teaching youngsters baseball fundamentals; the various disciplines of pitching, fielding, and hitting; and the skills and focus necessary to pursue baseball throughout grade school, college, and beyond. Supervisor Carpenter, Assemblyman Announce Funding for Brentwood Road Repairs


July 31st, 2018 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Brentwood) today announced that the Assemblyman has secured a $450,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) Grant to make needed road repairs in Brentwood. Representatives from the Town's Department of Public Works, including Commissioner Tom Owens and members of his staff, along with Town Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen attended the press conference. Combined with Town resources, the grant will bring total funding for local infrastructure projects to $850,000.

Town Hosts Junior Lifeguard Program at Atlantique Beach


July 30th, 2018 – Highlighted above, watch Atlantique Beach Chief Ocean Lifeguard Craig Amarando take us through the Town of Islip's first annual Junior Ocean Lifeguard program. The week-long summer instructional course trained local youth in the skills and life-saving techniques essential to becoming an ocean lifeguard. Each day, nearly 40 junior lifeguards arrived by ferry, and learned how to correctly enter the water, respond to emergencies and work together to ensure maximum safety when dealing with the ocean.
