Information & Referral Services
Peer Counseling
Crisis Intervention
Help is just a phone call away for any problem large or small. Crisis intervention, peer counseling and referrals are available to residents of Long Island by trained volunteers. All services are free and strictly confidential. Volunteers will take as much time as necessary to help clients work through their situation. Professionals in the Social Service field are also encouraged to utilize the Hotline, since it serves as a clearinghouse for information. Thousands of local referral sources are listed.
Peer Counselors - Who are they?
HOTLINE volunteers and Peer Counselors come from all age groups and backgrounds. All of our counselors have one thing in common; a keen interest in helping others. All volunteers are screened and must complete an extensive training program before assuming their HOTLINE duties. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, call the Hotline at (631) 277-4700 for information and an application.
Emergency Numbers
The Access Long Island/Islip Hotline is not a 24 hour service. When we are not here, you may contact one of the 24 hour hotlines or you can review our list of after hours and weekend emergency numbers.
