Islip Town Board Honors Black History Month Honorees

Islip, NY -2/9/16 - Islip Town Board Members recognized four outstanding individuals in honor of Black History Month at the February 9th Town Board Meeting. The celebration was held in the Islip Town Board Room which was decorated with photographs taken by local artist Saulmon C. Addison and began with Lailani Gibson, a Brentwood High School student, singing the Star Spangled Banner. The four honorees were Dr. Anthony Bridgeman, Principal of West Islip High School, Denise Watford, the recently retired Assistant Principal of Bay Shore High School, Donna Zephrine, a United States Army Reserves veteran, and Theresa Johnson-Burnside, the Owner and Executive Director of Terry’s Angel Learning Academy and Daycare Services. These four individuals were nominated to receive a Black History Month award for having gone above and beyond to better the Town of Islip community.
