Town Officials, Elite Airways Celebrate Inaugural Flight from Long Island MacArthur Airport

Islip, NY – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by local dignitaries, Long Island MacArthur Airport officials, and personnel from Elite Airways at the inaugural flight for Elite Airways’ new venture at the airport. Elite Airways recently reached an agreement with MacArthur Airport to begin flights to popular vacation destinations on the eastern seaboard. The new airline currently offers service to Melbourne/Orlando, Myrtle Beach, and Portland, Maine.

“This is a significant time in the history of Long Island MacArthur Airport. The inaugural flight for Elite Airways marks the beginning of a new opportunity for Long Island travelers, who won’t have to contend with the congestion and hassle of flying from other airports. Summer vacation is about to begin and Elite Airways is now officially flying to new and exciting vacation destinations from our airport,” said Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

“Today’s inaugural flights mark the start of summer fun for Long Islanders with convenient non-stops to popular destinations known for outstanding beaches, state parks, golf courses, shopping and fine-dining,” said John Pearsall, CEO of Elite Airways. “We thank Long Island MacArthur Airport and community leaders for their support, and look forward to flying passengers to and from ISP this summer.”

“The arrival of Elite Airways to Long Island MacArthur Airport is good news for the entire region as it will result in new destinations and more expedient travel for businesses and families, and thus the LIA commends the efforts of Supervisor Carpenter and the Islip Town Board to keep growing the airport to reach its immense economic potential,” said Kevin Law, President & CEO of the Long Island Association.

Passengers on the first flight, inbound from the Melbourne/Orlando area, were welcomed by Elite Airways executives, as well as Town of Islip officials.
