Islip, NY – Islip Town Supervisor Tom Croci recently met with many members of the Town of Islip’s Department of Environmental Conservation to discuss important sanitation and environmental issues the Town faces in the years to come.

Topics that were discussed include the proposed development at the Ronkonkoma Hub, the management of the recycling and compost facilities, and more ways that the Town can increase the revenue generated by its waste processing.

“Islip has been a leader over the last three decades in turning our household garbage into energy,” says Supervisor Croci.  “Our Environmental Department has had success in the past with turning our trash into profit, and more needs to be done to maximize our resources.”

The Town of Islip has been at the fore of several breakthroughs in waste management, to include recycling innovation, energy generation, and the processing of electronic waste.

“The men and women of our Town’s Environmental Department and Resource Recovery Agency are a tremendous asset to our residents.  We have to analyze how to best utilize those assets to solve our Town’s problems,” says Supervisor Croci.
