Town Partners with Attorney General’s Office to Provide Free Foreclosure Prevention Resources

February 14th, 2018 – Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter is announcing free foreclosure prevention resources available to at-risk homeowners in the Town of Islip. The Town of Islip recently partnered with NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s Office in offering help through New York State’s Homeowner Protection Program (HOPP), the New York State Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP) and through the state’s foreclosure rescue scam website, www.AGScamHelp.com.

The HOPP Program is designed to ensure that no family in New York State ever loses their home because they don’t have access to a lawyer or qualified housing counselor. The Attorney General’s MAP program provides small loans to homeowners at risk, whose debts are preventing them from becoming stable homeowners.

Islip Town DPW Crews Work to Remedy Nuisance Potholes

February 13th, 2018 – Town of Islip Department of Public Works crews are addressing potholes throughout the Town. The Long Island region is currently experiencing intermittent mild and freezing temperatures, which contribute to the expansion and contraction of asphalt, thereby creating potholes.

“We take pothole repair very seriously in the Town of Islip. Unfortunately, they’re oftentimes responsible for flat tires or even worse, damage to automobiles,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “I urge residents to call 631-224-5600 to report a pothole on a Town road and call New York State 1-800-POTHOLES for others.”

Town officials ask motorists to please be cautious and courteous while Town crews work to address the potholes.
