Islip Town Kicks Off Holiday Season with FREE Parking

November 22nd, 2017 – Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter today announced that parking will be FREE in all of Bay Shore’s parking lots beginning Saturday, November 25th through New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018. The FREE parking kicks-off on Saturday, November 25th, “Small Business Saturday,” and will apply to all metered parking in Bay Shore, including the back lots.

Potential Redevelopment of the Island Hills Golf Course in Sayville

November 20th, 2017 – An application has been submitted to the Town of Islip Planning Department in March 2017 for the redevelopment of the Island Hills Golf Course. The proposed application involves a change of zone from Residence AAA District (single family) to an Island Hills Planned Development District ("IHPDD") to permit the construction of 1,365 rental apartments and accessory commercial uses. Islip Town Board Adopts 2018 Operating Budget

November 9th, 2017 – Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Islip Town Board, unanimously adopted the Town’s 2018 annual operating budget and a majority of the board adopted the 2018 capital budget at today’s annual budget hearing.

This budget is under the state-mandated 2% tax cap. The operating budget proposed a modest increase of 1.765% or $9.23 per household annually. The Town’s 2018 operating budget does not eliminate any services, or programs. As a direct result of the Town’s strong financial stewardship and Aaa bond rating, (the highest rating a municipality can obtain), the Town was able to absorb a projected double digit increase in health insurance costs. The 2018 operating budget is a no-frills budget with no cut in services and no layoffs.

LIRR to Install New Grade Crossing in Brentwood

November 6th, 2017 – During the weekend of November 10, The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be installing a new grade crossing at Islip Avenue in Brentwood. This work is being performed as part of the LIRR Double Track Project which will improve service and reliability on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch and spur economic activity. It will reduce delays and enable more off-peak service in both directions.

Bay Shore LIRR Station Parking Lot to be Paved Sunday, Nov. 5th and Sunday, Nov. 12th

November 3rd, 2017 – The Town of Islip will be paving the South parking lot of the Long Island Rail Road Train Station in Bay Shore on Sunday, Nov. 5th, weather permitting. Signs have been posted and flyers have been distributed to commuters, advising all of the long-awaited paving of the Bay Shore Rail Road parking lots.

Residents are advised to utilize the North parking lot for their travel plans during this time. The South parking lot will re-open prior to the Monday morning commute. Please note that any vehicles left inside the South parking lot after midnight Saturday night will be moved to the North parking lot for pick-up.
