Residents Land Employment Through Job Search “Boot Camp”

December 4th, 2017 – Results from the 2017 Islip Job Search Boot Camp are in, and to date, 13 individuals have secured employment, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter announced today. The Town of Islip’s free Job Search Boot Camp, now in its fourth year, is conducted in partnership with Executive Consultants of New York, and offers participants the skills and the tools necessary for finding and landing a job in today’s challenging business climate.

“The single most important factor in a company’s decision to locate, expand or relocate, is the quality of its workforce. We believe that the Job Search Boot Camp helps connect our Islip companies with trained and professional workers, which helps both employers and employees,” said Islip Economic Development Director William G. Mannix.

In total, 34 prospecting job hunters participated in the Boot Camp. “The Job Search Boot Camp teaches individuals seeking employment, how to market themselves in a competitive environment using relevant social media sites, as well as how to master the art of interviewing,” said Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “It’s a dynamic program, and we look forward to hosting it again next year,” she added.
