Park Rangers Complete Peace Officer Training

December 21st, 2017 – Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Public Safety Enforcement Commissioner, Anthony D’Amico; Deputy Commissioner, Anthony Prudenti; Arthur Abbate, Director, Town of Islip Personnel and Tom Owens, Commissioner, Town of Islip Parks, to recognize five Park Rangers who recently completed Islip Town's Basic Course for Peace Officers.

The Peace Officer Training Program, developed by Town of Islip Public Safety Officials, provides the Park Rangers with instruction on New York State Criminal Procedure Law and Penal Law and verbal de-escalation techniques, as well as arrest protocol. “These five graduates have completed approximately 140 hours of training, including examples that were tailor-made to the duties of Park Ranger, which can be applied in everyday experiences throughout our parks, beaches and communities,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “We are grateful to our Commissioners and welcome our new Peace Officers to the Town,” she added.

Islip Park Rangers: Robert Bozza, Toni Ann Deluca, Christopher Kotak, and Anthony G. Lagrasta, as well as Timothy McVetty from Smithtown Public Safety, all completed the course, increasing their preparedness and ability to serve and protect in our community.
