Islip Town Outlines Christmas Tree and Winter Yard Waste Pickup

Islip, NY – Town of Islip officials have announced that sanitation crews will begin collecting Christmas trees and other winter yard waste during the second day of household collections for each of the first two weeks of 2017. Depending on where residents live, this means that pickup will occur on January 5th or 6th for the first week, and January 12th or 13th during the second week. For those residents residing in the Islip Resource Recovery Agency Collection Districts (Black Pail Districts), waste will be collected on either Monday or Tuesday for the first two weeks of January, specifically, January 2nd and 3rd, and January 9th and 10th, 2017.

Town officials are asking residents to ensure that the desired waste is on the curb before pickup begins at 6:00 a.m. In the event of snowfall, remove the waste from any compacted snow. Please observe all typical rules for trash pickup, including weight limits (individual bags, bundles, and trash cans must weigh less than 50 pounds). Christmas trees and winter yard waste will be collected separately from normal household waste.
