Informational Meeting Set to Review Heartland Development in Islip Town

Islip, NY - Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, along with members of the Islip Town Board and the Islip Planning Commissioner and staff, will convene an informational meeting on Thursday, March 30th at 11 am, regarding the Heartland Town Square application. A presentation by Islip Town planners will outline the Heartland Town Square proposal.

The informational meeting for the Islip Town Board is open to the public. There is no public portion during this meeting, however, a public hearing will be held at the future change of zone meeting. Public comment can be submitted through the Town’s new online form, beginning March 16, 2017, by clicking here.

Launched today, this issue-specific link on the Town’s webpage allows residents to submit their input on the Heartland Town Square proposal. All comments will then be reviewed by the Town’s Planning and Development Department, and presented to the Islip Town Board, and will become part of the permanent public record.

The Heartland Town Square, proposed by developer Gerald Wolkoff, is a multi-million square foot proposal of mixed-use space, consisting of work, living and retail, at the former Pilgrim State property in Brentwood.

“This is one of the most important issues to ever come before the Islip Town Board,” says Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “Our online tool will allow anyone who wishes, to present their opinions in a way that ensures every voice is heard.”
