Download MS4 Annual Compliance Report 2019

June 21st, 2019Download the Town's most recent annual MS4 Compliance Report to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This report shows the Town's progress in meeting federal and state stormwater management requirements in accordance with the Town’s State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit and Clean Water Act. LIRR Temporary Grade Crossing Closures, Saturday June 22nd


June 21st, 2019 – The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has announced that on Saturday, June 22 between 5:00am and 9:00pm, LIRR's Mainline between Deer Park and Central Islip will experience temporary grade crossing closures (up to 1 hour), as slow moving track equipment delivers construction materials in order to support upcoming rail work. Please review the below for a list of impacted grade crossings.


LIRR to Close Islip Avenue Grade Crossing on June 25th


June 20th, 2019 – The LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD Signal Deptatment is planning to close Islip Avenue Southbound to all traffic on Tuesday, June 25th from 7AM - 6PM at the grade crossing, in order to perform crossing rehabilitation work. A full road closure will also be required to complete the scheduled work on Saturday, June 29th from 12AM - 12PM.


Suffolk County Schedules Mosquito Larvae Treatment Beginning June 18th

June 17th, 2019 – From June 18th through June 20th from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae. Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day. Please review the below information to view how this treatment may be applied in or around our area.

June 7th, 2019 – The Town of Islip Department of Environmental Control is inviting students, teachers and adults 18 years and older, to be a part of an exciting oyster restoration initiative by learning how to become an oyster gardener.

Oysters are a keystone species within the marine environment, playing a vital role in the formation of a stable ecosystem, yet due to destruction from natural events, wild oyster populations in the Great South Bay have seen a decline to historic levels.

Town Receiver of Taxes Issues Tax Reminder

May 17th, 2019 – Alexis Weik, Receiver of Taxes, reminds all Islip Taxpayers, that second half taxes are due May 31, 2019. THE LAST DAY FOR PAYMENT OF CURRENT TAXES AT THIS OFFICE will be Friday, MAY 31, 2019, at which time the office will be open from 8:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

The Tax Office, located at 40 Nassau Ave., Islip, is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. We will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019 in observance of Memorial Day.

May 17th, 2019 – Beginning Saturday, May 18th through Saturday, July 13th, 2019, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs will have the I.D. room open from 9am–1pm, to process the following transactions:

  • Recreation and Senior I.D. Cards
  • Pool Memberships
  • Boat Decal pick up
  • Boat Launch Permits
  • Golf Gift-Certificates
  • Discount Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor and Splish Splash ticket sales
