Supervisor Carpenter Recognizes Peace Officers During Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

January 9th, 2019 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter recognized Town of Islip Peace Officers during National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Wednesday, January 9th, 2019.

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was founded in 2015 to thank officers across the country for all the daily sacrifices they make for their communities. Concerns of Police Survivors, the FBI National Academy Associates, the Fraternal Order of Police, the International Association of Chief of Police, the Officer Down Memorial Page, Law Enforcement United, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, International Conference of Police Chaplains, National Troopers Coalition only name a few of the long list of organizations supporting inaugural day of National Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Day. Since then, nationwide, many more organizations have joined forces to support National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.) to spread encouragement and respect to these dedicated men and women.


Town DPW Crews Address Potholes Ahead of Winter Weather

January 4th, 2019 – Town Councilman John C. Cochrane, Jr. recently met with Town DPW crews along Islip’s busy Commack Rd., as ongoing efforts to address potholes continues in the Town of Islip. The crews were out in force taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather, working to remedy poor road conditions and potential problem areas before the winter cold could cause further damage.


Islip Town’s 5.3MW Solar Farm Goes Live

January 2nd, 2019 – Two recently constructed solar farms totaling 5.3 Mega Watts in the Town of Islip commenced full-scale commercial operation on December 19, 2018. The projects are developed and constructed by Agilitas Energy, a leading commercial solar developer headquartered in Massachusetts. This marks the completion of Agilitas Energy’s first tranche of projects within its 15MW, 7-project Long Island portfolio.

“The Town of Islip is pleased to announce that our partnership with Agilitas Energy has transformed two closed Town landfills into green energy solar facilities, generating both clean power, reducing our carbon foot-print, and an annual income for our taxpayers.” Angie Carpenter, Supervisor for the Town of Islip commented, “It's a win-win for our Islip residents.”
