Anthony Senft, a native resident of the Town of Islip, grew up in East Islip and currently lives in Great River with his wife, Gina and their two sons. He is a graduate of East Islip High School and went to college on a full scholarship and law school at Hofstra University.
Anthony was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Corps officer then transferred to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG). He served in various assignments at Fort Bragg, North Carolina (Airborne units) and the Republic of South Korea. Anthony was also privileged to serve as a legal advisor on combat operations to the Commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps. Later, Anthony was detailed to serve as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of North Carolina where he prosecuted criminal offenders in federal court.
After leaving military service, Anthony continued to serve his community as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney where he prosecuted major offenses in the Major Crime Bureau.
Thirteen years ago Anthony opened a private law firm in East Islip, where he continues to run his business. Shortly thereafter, he opened a property management and real estate development business. These experiences enable Anthony to gain great insight into the difficulties facing small business owners in our community.
Although Anthony left government service to open up his two businesses, he never left service to his community. Anthony served on the East Islip School Board and on various committees including the Budget Advisory Committee and student mentor program. He is an active youth coach, regularly coaching lacrosse, football and wrestling.
Anthony is on the Board of Directors of ReadTwoMe, Inc., a not for profit literacy program. He is also a physical fitness advocate, taught personal trainer certification courses and regularly competes in endurance races including the Ironman Triathlon.
