The Town of Islip Department of Planning and Development is responsible for the efficient organization of the built environment within the Town. In order to accomplish this goal, the Department focuses on the following:

  1. Comprehensive Plan and long-range planning
  2. Environmental Impact Review
  3. Capital Improvement Program
  4. Grants Program
  5. Geographic Information Systems (Computer mapping)
  6. Permit Review: Subdivisions and Road Openings, Planning Board Special Permits, Site Plan
    review, Town Board Change of Zone, Wetlands and Watercourses, and Land Clearing
  7. Building Permit Review
  8. Engineering Review and Contract Administration
  9. Zoning Board of Appeals Administration
  10. Public Land and Lease Management
  11. Economic Development

Islip Town Environmental Council (ITEC)

The Islip Town Environmental Council (ITEC) was created by the Town Board in 1972 in order to preserve and improve the quality of life of the natural and man made environment within the Town of Islip.
