Spring S.T.O.P. Day

Saturday, May 19, 2018 09:00am - 02:00pm

The Town of Islip’s 2018 Spring S.T.O.P. Day (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) will be held Saturday, May 19th, from 9:00 am. to 2:00pm. Residents will able to drive directly to the Town of Islip Multi-Purpose Recycling Facility in Holbrook and dispose of waste materials in an environmentally-safe manner, with Department of Environmental Control staff on-hand to provide assistance if needed.

E-waste (computers, electronics, etc.); cleaning chemicals (drain, laundry, pet, pool, rug & upholstery, etc.); and auto and marine batteries are among the many residential hazardous materials your household can contribute to safe and proper disposal.Improper disposal of these items can work its way down into the drinking water supply and contaminate local waterways.

Please join with us to protect and preserve our precious groundwater supply, the Great South Bay, and the environmental conservation of the Islip community. Together we can ensure the continued integrity of our ecosystem.

Click HERE for a full list of accepted waste materials, restrictions, and how to participate.

STOP day is held twice annually. Accepted materials may be dropped off weekly (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 7:30 am. and 2:30 pm. For more information, please call the Department of Environmental Control at (631) 595-3630, or visit
