Islip, NY – Several Town officials were on hand to thank Kevin O’Brien of Troop #205 of Great River for his generous donation of two benches to the Joyce Fitzpatrick Senior Center in East Islip. The Town had formally accepted the donation of the benches at a recent Town Board meeting, which has the added benefit of permanently documenting Kevin’s generosity on the public record.
"It is always a sincere jesture when you see a 17 year old Eagle Scout building benches for the seniors in our community. We are all very proud of Kevin,” said Councilwoman Trish Bergin Weichbrodt.
“It has been said before that Islip is a community of neighbors, and Kevin’s actions exemplify that sentiment,” said Councilman Steve Flotteron.
“I am proud to see Kevin give back not just to his community, but to the generations of Islip residents that have come before him. He sets an example for the rest of us to follow,” said Town Clerk Olga Murray.
