ISLIP OFFICIALS PARTNER WITH NATIONAL GRID TO PROMOTE SAFETY

Important Safety Tips Available in Safety Brochure On Town Website

Islip Town officials have joined National Grid in helping to spread important safety tips relating to natural gas supplies in an informative safety brochure currently available on the Town’s website here.

“This brochure supplies important information about natural gas, and not just for National Grid customers. It includes details on what to do if you smell gas, emergency telephone numbers, and how to recognize pipeline markers and right of ways,” said Councilman Anthony Senft, Jr.

Also of note in the brochure, is the absolute need to call 811 to reach a local One Call Center to find out where buried utility lines are located BEFORE the excavation of any property, whether public or privately owned.

National Grid owns and operates nearly 35,200 miles of underground pipelines in the Northeast region, including Long Island. For more information, visit National Grid’s Emergency Safety website at http://www2.nationalgridus.com/pshome/energysafety/index ny kedli.jsp
