Supervisor Carpenter Outlines Vision for Town’s Future in 2016 State of the Town Address

Islip, NY – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter recently delivered the 2016 State of the Town address, in which she reviewed developments in the Town during the past year and outlined her plans for the future of Islip. During the speech she touted Islip Town’s strong economic position and the industrial resources that have kept the Town’s economy strong in past years. The Town of Islip is one of two Long Island towns with a “Aaa” rating from the Moody’s credit rating agency.

“We practice sound fiscal policies that demonstrate our commitment to responsible government for our residents,” said Supervisor Carpenter. “We work closely with our commissioners to tighten budgets as necessary, making certain that each and every taxpayer dollar spent is done with the utmost scrutiny.”

Islip has several unique economic resources, including Long Island MacArthur Airport, and Supervisor Carpenter stressed that these unique resources will keep Islip’s business environment competitive for many years to come. In addition, her speech focused on government’s responsibility to serve its citizens, and she pledged that her administration would continue to improve transparency with residents.

“Our roles and responsibilities are basic: to listen to the needs of our residents, provide the necessary leadership to fulfill those needs, and strive for a better, stronger community,” said Supervisor Carpenter. “Residents have a direct line to my office through our Constituent Services staff.”

Officials from neighboring towns were in attendance, and Supervisor Carpenter acknowledged the partnerships between municipalities that can better serve Long Island residents.

“I am committed to smart Town government, working cooperatively with other elected officials and municipalities on a bipartisan basis,” said Supervisor Carpenter, before highlighting the partnership between Islip and Brookhaven Town in particular.

Supervisor Carpenter also thanked the team of commissioners and all employees for their continued dedication to serving the residents of Islip Town, saying that “Our employees, and our residents, top the incredible list of assets we have in our Town.
