Letter from Supervisor Carpenter to Boaters and Residents

News 12 interviews Supervisor Carpenter

Dear Boaters:

I would like to thank you for taking the time to attend the May 24th Town Board meeting and sharing your ideas and opinions on the reservation system for Atlantique Marina. I really do appreciate those of you who came down to share your thoughts and ideas, and feel that we received a lot of constructive feedback.

As a follow up to the Town Board Meeting, we invited a representative group of boaters who spoke at the Town Board meeting on Tuesday to further the discussion. In order to better serve the needs of the Atlantique boating community together we have agreed on the following:

  • There will be no seasonal slip rentals.
  • The 12-day rule has been modified to a 14-day rule.
  • There will be no A slip reservations allowed online. Up to a max 20 of the 91 B slips will be available to reserve online, for Town of Islip Residents only, and only on a weekly basis.
  • As always, the Dockmaster of record has full discretion over marina operations.

My sincere wish is that this summer every boater and visitor will see and enjoy all of the positive changes and improvements the Town has brought to Atlantique, and that we will continue to work together to make sure that your time there is most enjoyable.

I am also delighted to hear that you are forming a Boaters Association. I think that will be most helpful going forward, and I will be happy to help in any way possible.

If you still have any questions that you feel are unanswered, or any suggestions you wish to share, please feel free to contact our Parks and Recreation Department at 631-224-5411, or you can call my office at 631-224-5500. Again, thank you for attending and sharing your thoughts and ideas with us.

Warmest Regards,

Angie M. Carpenter Islip Town Supervisor
