Town Joins Social Media Rock Party

This “Rock-tober," the Town of Islip “Rock-reation” Department is joining the popular Social Media Scavenger Hunt by painting rocks and hiding them throughout the Town. Our goal is to encourage individuals and families to explore the Town’s vast and beautiful park system! Anyone can be a rock star regardless of age or talent.

Below you will find the guidelines to join in the fun:

• Rock art should be done with Acrylic Paint and finished with a clear sealer. Content should be clean and free of hate. We reserve the right to remove any rocks or posts that we deem inappropriate.
• Label the rock with or @townofislip.
• Avoid hiding rocks on steps, paved walkways or grassy areas needing mowing.
• If you see one you like, take it, post a photo, keep it or re-hide it in that park or any Town of Islip Park.
• If you take a rock, plan on replacing it with one of your own in any Town Park.
• Post the picture to the Town's Islip Parks Rock Facebook page or Twitter account @townofislip. Artists love to see their rocks posted and where the adventure took their rock. Be sure to tag your post with #isliprocks.
• Check out our feeds to see who found your painted rock and for the next Town of Islip’s Rockin’ Paint Party!
