Islip Officials Complete 60 Miles of Roadway Paving

December 7th, 2017 – Supervisor Angie Carpenter announced today that the Town of Islip Department of Public Works this year paved 60 miles of roadway and 75,000 potholes. More than 100,000 tons of asphalt was used to complete the various projects.

“I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to increase our paving efforts. It certainly has been long overdue. We included dollars in the capital budget to fund a paving program that also addressed parking lots, which has never been done before. These types of improvements to our infrastructure keep our roadways safe for the traveling public and emergency service vehicles, beautify our communities, and contribute to our Aaa bond rating,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
