Hundreds Turn Out for Islip Chamber Holiday Parade

December 6th, 2017 The Islip Chamber of Commerce hosted the Annual Holiday Illumination Parade and Tree Lighting Saturday, which stepped off at Ocean Ave and Main Street in Islip and culminated with a tree lighting at Town Hall. Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Master of Ceremonies Tom Cilmi of the Suffolk County Legislature, along with members of the Islip Town Board, including incoming Town Board member James O'Connor. Hundreds of residents looked on, as Grand Marshal Anthony Quintal of Brightwaters Farms led the parade of community groups, merchants, boy scout troops, girl scout troops, EMS, the Islip Historical Society and more, as they marched alongside elaborately decorated holiday floats.

The event opened with Sheila Keirnan singing the National Anthem. Performances by Kellie’s Dance Studio, Dance Connection and the Maud S. Sherwood Elementary School Chorus wowed the crowd. “For the third year, it’s only gotten bigger. We love lighting up Islip for the night. Personally, it’s my favorite Islip event of the year,” said Doris Kennedy, President, Islip Chamber of Commerce and Kennedy Long Island Realty.
